Hello. Do you know if the ATS200 model of the radio can use the 120 firmware? I think that the difference between the models is the ATS200 can receive the air band frequencies, but with the latest firmware of the 200, I'm not sure one can enter digital modes. Can you request a sample and investigate? 😜 I think you do a nice job of presentation. Very informative, well paced. KUDOS

The 773 is nice to extend the antenna to the correct lenth to match the 1/4 wavelenth of the frequency your transmitting on. Keep them swrs low. 148 is different lenth compared to 156 mhz. And at 11cm your up in the high 400's. But I have a problem. I have to try and get everything as precise as i can.🤨

I'm having trouble getting the PTT button on my bluetooth mic to work. It connects to the radio and I can hear transmissions through the mic, but I can't transmit. Do you know how to fix that?

Lets say you have a big farm. No 3g coverage at the farm. But there is a starlink base at the main farmhouse. Then if you setup one meshtastic node connected to the internet at the farmhouse, everyone at the farm (even those far away from the farmhouse) will be able to communicate via meshtastic to the farm's office at the city. For instance, a shopper for the farm at the supermarket in town would be able to send and receive mesages to a cowboy at the far end of the farm(over mqtt), to let him or her know that the requested merchandise is back-ordered and request an alternative product to purchase instead.

The seem to have also fixed the font color in night mode. It used to be white text on green for rx and black text on red for tx. Now it’s black on green and white on red. Much easier to read. Downside though, now I get a pretty bad squelch tail on frequencies that I didn’t before, but if the Bluetooth works reliably now I can forgive that. Edit- I’m on version 2.07 for the gps one. Not sure if v2.05 fixed the font color.

Someone else reported this firmware update messed up their mars/cap mod making it no longer work out of band. Can anyone confirm this to be true? I’ve also read 991s made for the US before 2017 could expand the uhf/vhf frequencies and not just HF. Everything I’ve read and according to HRO/Gigaparts the 991 can only be expanded on HF not UHF/VHF. Did something change in the firmware back in 2017 too? It seems like Yaesu are trying to do everything they can to stop mars/cap mods. My FT710 doesn’t have it done but I wanted to pick up a 991 however a non expandable uhf/vhf is deal breaker for me. My Icom id52a is brilliant with its mars/cap and works very well on GMRS (I’m licensed for both ham and gmrs) as well as MURS. Anyone have advice on a base station with a good receiver that can do uhf/vhf/hf and be expanded to include MURS/gmrs? I’m looking for a one stop solution for everything. I don’t need a fcc lecture btw, there are plenty of people doing far worse who are not even licensed and I program my radios to follow the rules on gmrs (proper wattage, narrow/wide when required, etc). Same with MURS. I’m not going to bother listing current/former gov positions that would allow me to transmit out of band as it’s irrelevant. When the fcc starts enforcing these paid gmrs repeaters which are also incorrectly configured and causing interference on other frequencies, maybe I’ll start to care about the dumb rules like one radio per license band. To me it’s just a deal they made with radio manufacturers to screw us out of money having to buy multiple radios. I follow the band rules for what I’m tx’ing on which is far more than others are doing so they can fk off forcing me to carry around a ham, gmrs, and MURS radio. I don’t need to carry three radios, thanks fcc.

Does this custom firmware fix the volume on these radios? I have one a few years old and the volume is way to loud even at the lowest setting then next step its completely inaudible.

It looks like the 6200 has a much weaker receiver. the icom has clean signals across the waterfall while the 6200 looks to barely receive the same signals.

If they had taken the basics of the X6100 design/hardware, put in a custom set of apps (FT8/JS8/etc fully decode/encode) that we KNOW can run on this hardware via the firmware hacking projects that are out there, I would be all OVER this unit. However, as it stands now, it's just newer hardware with better battery options. I will keep my X6100 for the time being.

In the Icom ID 51, to have a good level of microphone sensitivity modulation, adjust the mic gain to 3 or 4. At level 2 it is not very sensitive. Can the mic gain be adjusted in the 52 ?

Your device does have Tetra it doesnt have the Tetra Trunking but it does have Tetra Decode but UK is normally encrypted.

Glad it works for you. On my tablet I just get a message about servers unavailable. I can connect to the BT adapter in Android with no problem but on the app it just always shows "Bluetooth disabled" even though I can select search and choose the FBT06 device. Then after 30 seconds the screen goes white which appears to be a failed attempt to load an ad--app crashes after this LOL. Too bad. What a great idea in theory.

would it be possible to do an updated video of this on settings. I watched the x6100 video which got the radio up and running for vara hf but still some issues with getting the ic705 up and running. I have one to go along with my FT DX-10. It is over kill. Like having a 101MP, you’ll never use all the features however it’s fun to brag on the air how much money you spent on your equipment lololol. Boys and their toys

Will it record the audio ? It would be great to be able to set a frequency and hsve it record every transmission. And if it can instantly come up with Ctcss and TGID and tones, like a 2 tone code, to see like 313 hz, then 1090 hz. That would be really nice

What is the link to buy this sdr ? Is there firmware to get 700,800,900 mhz ? Xan it do DMR ? Can it do phase 2 digital simulcast trunked networks ?
